CD ANALYSIS 4 (SATSSOFT Vocabulary)
This analysis is based on score 1-5. Score 1 is the lowest rank and the score 5 is the highest.
SATSSOFT Vocabulary CD is almost the same with SATSSOFT English Words, but this was programmed for higher levels of English and for older ages of children or more appropriate for teenagers. There are four kinds of games and twelve levels that students can choose in this program.
A. Interactivity
This CD program is quite interactive as it provides games that enable the users to answer the questions ad to get the results from the program. From the beginning, the users are asked to write their names and ages. And the names and ages will appear on the screen in order to make it more personal. Games with fun music are used as the media of interaction between the users and the program. The users play the games and answer the questions at the same time and the CD program will do the scoring. B. Usability (flexibility)
This CD program is very easy to use and it is interesting. As it is provided for children and teenagers (although the ages are not stated), this program can be used for learning, improving and memorizing new vocabulary. This CD is very flexible because the users are able to switch the games they are playing to other games without finishing them first. Moreover, to make it more flexible, the users are able to stop the games for a moment to find the list of words with their definitions. (Score 4)
C. Content Appropriateness
The CD program does not provide any information about the age of users of the program. However, based on the level of difficulties, it can be concluded that the program may be best suited for teenagers or those who are studying in high schools. The instructions in the program are not available enough for young learners, however, it may not cause many troubles for older users such as teenagers. (Score 5)
D. Effectiveness
This program will be effective for learning new vocabulary and improving vocabulary knowledge of older children or teenagers. However, the fun games provided in the CD may look like those which are provided for young learners. Some vocabulary repetitions from games to games are effective for those users who may need sometime to remember new vocabulary but they may cause boredom for the fast learners. In term of instructions, this CD program provides well and clear instructions which make it easier to use. (Score 4)
E. Performance
The overall performance of this program is very interesting and attractive. There are many pictures, fun music and sounds to attract the users while learning and to make learning more fun. (Score 5)
